Happy First Annual
Sweet Potato Pie Day!

Mary McLeod Bethune

Here at Mr. Tod’s, we’ve officially registered July 10th as Sweet Potato Pie Day. A day to celebrate the joy and love sweet potato pie brings to tables across the world. To kick off this new holiday, we want to shed light on the legacy of Mary McLeod Bethune who was born on July 10th, 1875.

She was an influential educator and activist who in 1904, started a school for young African American girls that would go on to become Bethune-Cookman College.

To help keep it funded and growing, she utilized many fundraising efforts, including selling her famous sweet potato pies. So today, raise a fork to Mary and celebrate the joy sweet potato pie brings to your table.
